The facility now known as the Trainer Refinery straddles the communities of Trainer, Marcus Hook and Chester, Pennsylvania, along the Delaware River about 10 miles southwest of Philadelphia. It has played an integral role in these communities, and the energy industry, for more than a century. Today, the Trainer Refinery is a dynamic facility with a focus on innovation and opportunity.

The Trainer Refinery today
Since 2012, the Trainer Refinery has focused mainly on the production of high-quality transportation fuels. In addition to jet fuel, our 185,000 BPD facility also produces gasoline, diesel, and home heating oil. A medium-complexity refinery, we currently process primarily light, sweet crude from North America, which is vastly different than the crude slate historically processed here.
Some of our refining units include:
- Crude & Vacuum
- Heavy Cat Naphtha (HCN) Hydrotreating Unit
- Fluid Catalytic Cracker (FCC)
- Isocracker
- Catalytic Reformer
- Distillate Hydrotreaters
- Naphtha Unit
- Alky Unit
